Valentina Plata (b. 1997 mexico·colombia) is an electroacoustic music performer-composer, based in Montreal. She is currently enrolled in the Electroacoustics Studies program with a specialization in creative practices from Concordia University. Her work is rooted in vocal processing techniques, weaving together multi-disciplinary and improvisatory materials through intimate explorations of personal themes and collaborative practices. She has gained experience working in a variety of contexts: choreography, non-traditional operas, and creative production.
She has also released music under the moniker Vaiu.
She is a member of SMCQ (Société de Musique Contemporaine du Québec), CESSA (Concordia Electroacoustic Studies Student Association), LePARC (Performing Arts Research Cluster), and COHDS (Centre for Oral History and Digital Storytelling)
Plata launched the Esse multi-disciplinary artistic collective in 2024, whose works create highly imaginative performance-installations inspired by underground worlds.
